ABB is pleased to announce that it will provide charging technology for the third generation of racing cars in the ABB FIA Formula Electric Championship, the world's first all electric vehicle top event.
ABB has been the naming partner of the championship since the fourth season. The third generation of lighter, faster and more energy-efficient racing cars will be launched in the ninth season (2022-2023).
To celebrate and witness the official launch of the cooperation, President of ABB Group's Electrical Business Unit Mehta, and Head of ABB's Formula Electric Partnership Daniela Lu ž Anin, founder and chairman of FE Equation, Alejandro Agag, and FE Equation CEO Jamie Rigel attended today's online celebration.
ABB Electric's global team is currently working with the engineers of the International Federation of Automobiles (FIA) and FE Electric Formula, the motor sport management organization, to formulate technical parameters and specifications, develop innovative and safe charging solutions for the third generation of racing cars, and charge two racing cars at the same time through portable charging equipment.
ABB has installed more than 14000 DC fast charging piles in more than 80 countries around the world. ABB's mature technology and rich experience will be integrated into the development of the third generation racing charging pile, and meet the special needs of the racing environment in a customized way.
Mehta said: "The ABB FIA Formula Electric Championship is not only an important event, but also a testing ground for our innovative technologies in the field of electric transport.
